Bato Ko Cinema screening at Maruhiti, Kolor Kathmandu
Duration: 18 minutes

Synopsis:
Yomari is a unique delicacy of the Newars, the indigenous people of the Kathmandu Valley. Yomari is eaten only at particular joyous occasions, and is full of religious, symbolic and practical significance. This film, taking the ancient tradition of Yomari as an example, tries to highlight the need to understand the underlying philosophies behind one's cultural heritage in order to conserve it for future generations.
Filmmakers:
Rajni Shrestha believes in karma – what you give is what you get. With a master’s degree in English literature and two decades of public relations career behind her, she has recently led the organizing of Nepal Cine Symposium. She admires the strength of the Nepali woman, and seeks ways to document and bring their stories of hardship and success to the world.
Alok Tuladhar's zeal and passion for photo and video documentation is matched with his two and half decades of experience as photographer, videographer, writer and editor. Over the years, Alok has developed specialized expertise as a visual story teller, and has trained under New York based Tina Arhens, photo editor of Geo Magazine. His documentary films and photo stories published in national dailies and local magazines have been widely acclaimed.
