Events Detail

एस पाली त नेपालीमा , झ्याम्म झ्याम्म!

WW Live: All Nepali slam will be held on July 12, 2014. The online registration deadline for the event is July 8, 2014, midnight.

15 selected participants will be contacted via email or phone by July 9th and will be requested to attend a mini-workshop on July 10th in preparation of the slam.

This will be a two round slam competition and the winner of the slam will receive cash price (money for doing poetry?? :) I know right?) and of course lots of applause.

But as we've always said and as we've always believed about slam poetry:
THE POINT IS NOT THE POINT, THE POINT IS POETRY!

So come for poetry. And for those who want to participate here 's where you fill in the form:

Registration fee: Rs 250 for selected participants

Suggested door fee: Rs 25 - Rs 50

We will also be collaborating with Quixote's Cove's and US Embassy's Bookbus project for the event. The Bookbus will be at the venue throughout the program and will be open for visitors to step in to - read and know about Bookbus tours and QC events.

Rules for the competition:
-Poems can be in any style and subject but must be an original poem written in Nepali.

-There will be a total of 2 rounds and poems may not be repeated for both rounds. The ones with the highest scores from the first round will go on to compete in the second round and winners will be selected from thereon in.

-Each participant has 3 minutes to perform each poem. The timer will start once the participant starts speaking into the mic( you can do a mic check but note that if you're already proceeding with introductions, the timer is already running!) Exceeding the time limit will result in disqualification. However, if you forget a poem in the middle of a performance, you may repeat it from the beginning.

-There will be a total of 5 judges who will mark each participant on a scale from 1 to 10(e.g 9.8, 7.8, 10.0). The highest mark and the lowest mark for each performance will be dropped and the average from the remaining scores will be your final score. The judges will evaluate you based on your content and performance.

-No props or music can accompany the performance.

Good luck!

And remember, "The point is not the point, the point is poetry"
