Learn single-frame stop motion animation techniques and make your own animation!
In this workshop, students will be introduced to the world of stop motion animation. Stop motion involves taking a series of photographs in which objects are manipulated by hand incrementally. When the photographs are strung together and played in a timeline (that is, as a movie), the objects appear to move on their own. This workshop will focus on 2D puppet, cell, and collage (cutout) animation* – though a variety of other animation techniques will be discussed.
Together as a class, we will create a music video for a song of 2 to 3 minutes in length. Each student will create his or her own 10 to 20 second animation, using a technique of his/her choice. Each student’s animation will then become a section of the music video.
Through this workshop students will learn how to make their own animated films – from the design and creation of characters and backgrounds, to storyboarding, to image capture using digital cameras and the latest computer software, to image compilation and basic editing.
Students of all backgrounds are encouraged to attend. No previous experience is necessary.
*please note that this workshop will not teach computer generated imagery (CGI) or computer graphics, this workshop strictly focuses on animation techniques using hand-made and found materials.

Specifics

When: January 5th , 6th, 12th, 13th 11AM-4PM + one individual 3 hour session between Jan 7th-11th
(5 sessions in total) YOU MUST COME ON TIME AND BE PREPARED TO WORK ON YOUR OWN OUTSIDE OF THESE TIMES.

Cost for workshop: Nrs.2000 (PLEASE NOTE THAT FEE WILL BE COLLECTED AT THE BEGINNING OF FIRST SESSION.)
