Marketplace for Social Entrepreneurship

To highlight and appreciate the work being done by Nepalese social entrepreneurs, Surya Nepal Asha Social Entrepreneurship Awards has encompassed three components – the Bazaar, Seminar and the Awards Ceremony. The first, and only one of its kind, award to recognize Nepalese social entrepreneurs, the vision of SNASEA is not only to celebrate ‘hidden heroes’ for their great initiatives but also to showcase their ventures and the impact they have made on their communities.

This year too, the ‘Bazaar-Minar’, a one-day event, will be organized on 1 March 2014, including two events - the Social Entrepreneurship Bazaar and Seminar.

The Bazaar will feature our shortlisted SNASEA semifinalists comprising of ventures related to energy, health, handicraft, agriculture and more. The event will be a platform for ‘Transaction and Transformation’ – a marketplace for these social entrepreneurs to promote not only their products and services but also their work and to exchange ideas and knowledge from visiting experts, investors and build their network.

As for the Seminar, it will cover different sessions over the day catering to the needs of aspiring and existing social entrepreneurs. The sessions will start from 2 PM in the afternoon and cover the following workshops:

• ‘Stepping into Social Entrepreneurship’ – What is social entrepreneurship and how it can benefit the society as a whole
• Success stories from across the globe in the field of social entrepreneurship
• ‘Tools to solving challenges’ - How to start a social enterprise and how to overcome the challenges an entrepreneur has to face?
• Rendezvous with our SNASEA Winner Ram Sapkota (Founder, Mountain Delights Treks & Expeditions & Tukee Nepal Society) – giving the audience an opportunity to not just listen to experts but then hear it from a social entrepreneur himself.

The bazaar will start from 1 PM while the seminar sessions will begin from 2 PM in the afternoon. The one day ‘Bazaar-Minar’ will be a marketplace with a difference - with a focus on exchanging ideas.
