REWIND, RECAPTURE & REWRITE: A Writing Workshop

27-29 JUNE 2013 | BIRGUNJ

Old photographs remember for us much of what has been forgotten otherwise. The places have changed, the faces have aged, but the stories are as fresh in collective memory as on the day when they were created. In old photos we find new ways to look at the past, and thereby find new ways to understand the world around us, to understand ourselves.

Nepal Picture Library, a photo.circle initiative, and Sanskriti are bringing this writing workshop to your city, Birgunj. From 27-29 June, we will get together to discover and explore the rich photographic history of Birgunj, and learn how to write about them. Bhushan Shilpakar will guide you on how to find and collect old photographs in the family and elsewhere, and Prawin Adhikari will guide you on writing out memory – your own, and that of others.

THE HUNT: Find old family photographs!

THE TASK: Bring the photographs to the workshop and write the stories behind them!

THE RESULT: Document and share your family history! Contribute to documenting the history of your town Birgunj!
