How to make the world a cleaner place | Clean up Nepal Film Screening

THEME: How to make the world a cleaner place.

Clean up Nepal in collaboration with Films for Action brings you a number of short films on Saturday, 21 March 2015 at 11.00 am. The 7 documentaries we will screen are as follows:

1. Eco-Schools: Creating Future Environmental Leaders [5.22 minutes]
The eco-schools programme is an innovative curriculum-based environmental education initiative supported by national education department. It was launched in South Africa in 2003 to teach future generations about conservation and how it improves all of our lives. Eco-schools is an internationally recognized programme operating in over 40 countries.

2. Bali's Environmental Ambassadors [7.17 minutes]
Bali is about to become an environmental disaster! Piles of rubbish are getting dumped on the side of the roads, onto the beaches, into the rivers, floating into the sea. Surfers and swimmers get sick regularly from the sewage in the seawater. The food is covered in toxic chemicals or flavored with MSG. Not to think of the future consequences of these practices on the fast growing tourism industry - the island's only source of income - and even more horrifying the health risks for the people.

3. The Girl Who Silenced the World for 5 minutes [6.41 minutes]
She addressed a UN Meeting on issue of environment. What an inspirational speech.

4. The Life of a Plastic Bag [2.34 minutes]
Boomerang Bags presents the Bag Monster in an initative to promote the use of reusable bags, reducing plastics and fostering sustainable behaviour among local communities.

5. Waste Land (2010) [7.20 minutes]
Cathy Nesbitt of Cathy's Crawly Composters talks about the worm business and about how worms are going to play an ever increasing role in waste management, soil production and therefore food security.

6. Future Megacities - Solid Waste Management in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia [18.43 minutes]
The Film is part of the web series "Future Megacities" by Marcus Mangeot. The project is a research and demonstration project of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) under the research program "Research for the Sustainable Development of Megacities of Tomorrow - Energy- and Climate-Efficient Structures in Urban Growth Centres" of the Federal Republic of Germany.

7. If We Cared About The Environment Like We Care About Sports [1.51 minutes]
"All I've ever wanted is a son who joins Earth Club!"
