Film show to mark #16DaysActivism #AgainstGenderViolence

UNDP Nepal is organizing a film event on Wednesday 2nd December as part of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence Campaign. We will be showing awards winning film Sunakali (2014) that tells a story about girls football team in Mugu, Nepal.

Mugu is one of the most remote and impoverished districts in Nepal. According to the 2011 Nepal Census, the literacy rate is 27 percent and 90 percent of women are illiterate. More than 63 percent of the district’s population gets married between the ages of 15 to 19 years. Sunakali is a documentary film about a girl whose passion for football propels her to break free from the fate of most girls and pursue her dream.

Director Bhojrat Bhat will be joining the event and share his thoughts after the film.

Tentative venue: Black Pepper Restaurant in Sanepa, Lalitpur

Event starts at 5.30 PM with light snacks and short films.

Showtime of the main film 6.30 PM.
