Workshop Details:
___

Short description:
The workshop will at its heart serve as a story-telling activity, through the universal language of drawings. Participants will create artwork in the form of colouring book illustrations with personal narratives which draw out the issues and concerns of the local community and enable them to express themselves in a form that’s not only ‘readable’ but also serves as a wish fulfillment practice.
This workshop will involve creating MURALS on the streets with designs from the pages. The mural space will also have paint and chalk out for anyone passing by to come and colour it in as an interactive colouring book on walls that are larger than life and facilitate community involvement by people coming together and addressing social issues or just creating something they all believe in collectively.

Course Detail:
Week 1: Create illustrations
DAY 1:
Identify and narrow down themes for the illustration subject. This will be done through dialogue and a small presentation of artwork that deals with social issues.
DAY 2- 7:
A presentation will be shown of basic to detailed colouring books. The materials will be discussed and practiced with. Thumbnail sketches of illustrations will be done to develop composition and style. Sketching, inking and final touches of the illustration.

Week 2: Apply outlines to walls
DAY 1:
Participants will begin prepping the space and sketching out their illustrations.
DAY 2-6: Painting of the outlines will be in progress
DAY 7: Participants will engage with the public to encourage dialogue and participation. Brushes and chalk will be handed out to passerby.

Highlights and Outcome:
Through this workshop, we could build a collection of drawings towards a colouring book or loose colouring sheets and the murals would serve as an organic, growing participation-based activity.
