आरम्भ (Aarambha): Future Makers Nepal gathering

Future Makers Nepal embarked on a big adventure this year – and as the pilot stage of the project is heading towards an end, we would like to invite you all to meet for the last time this year. (And of course, your participation is free of charge.)
It will be a little participatory adventure. First we will show you independent documentaries in different rooms about radical democracy and grassroots / civil society. It will be more of an installation type of experience, you can wander around with your coffee and engage in discussions meanwhile. After that, we invite you to meet with inspiring leaders, makers and activists in two parallel sessions. At the end, you will pick a group of your interest (groups will be mentored and supported by our guests) and create a collaborative manifesto dealing with the issue that is important to you. We will share these manifestos and create sort of a grassroots constitution out of it. This is one of the reasons why we call this event Aarambha – many good social movements were sparked by strong, twisted, sometimes completely unconventional manifestos. Let’s see how far we can get on a Saturday afternoon together.

Chaukath started in October 2013, when a group of Kathmandu-based women organised the Vote Women 2070 Campaign. We have since evolved into an independent network of feminists. We work to create a space where politics, society, and culture can be examined through a feminist lens. To encourage informed activism, Chaukath holds monthly discussions on laws in Nepal as well as a monthly feminist reading group. We also believe that any truly feminist movement must prioritise everyone’s right to leisure and pleasure. To claim public spaces for work and leisure, Chaukath has an on-going Gham Tapau Aviyaan.
